March for Meals


to benefit Meals on Wheels at SeniorsPlus

will be held FRIDAY, MARCH 19, as a VIRTUAL event! 


Please join us for a unique virtual event! The Fill the Plate Breakfast to benefit Meals on Wheels returns Friday, March 19, 2021. It will be held from 7:30 to 9 am. 

Keynote speaker will be Richard Blanco, 2013 Presidential Inaugural Poet, who will share selections from his works and thoughts on the theme, “Sustenance: My Food, My Culture, My Elders.” An award-winning poet and memoirist, Blanco was selected as the fifth Presidential Inaugural Poet in U.S. history, Blanco is the first Latinx, immigrant, and gay person to serve in such a role, having read his original poem "One Today" for Barack Obama's second inauguration in 2013.

The event features the presentation of the Ikaria Award, which recognizes an individual or organization for singular and outstanding contributions toward improving the lives of older adults. This year's honoree will be Don Harden, former Director of Aging Services at Catholic Charities Maine. 

Tickets are $20 per person, available online (PURCHASE TICKETS OR DONATE HERE) or by calling 207-795-4010. Advance registration by March 17 required and by March 1 to receive a goody bag with raffle ticket for a chance to win door prizes. Guests will be emailed a link to the online event the week of March 15.

Meals on Wheels of SeniorsPlus and its social dining programs serve more than 130,000 meals annually to older adults and adults with disabilities in Androscoggin, Franklin, and Oxford counties. 

The Fill the Plate Breakfast is presented in conjunction with March for Meals, a national campaign of Meals on Wheels America.
