♦Our monthly income is less than $2,111 and one of us is older than 62 or we are disabled – You are probably eligible for Low Cost Drug Program. Saves you as much as 80% on generic prescription drugs, savings on some name brands specific to covered diseases also.
♦Our monthly income is less than $1,870 and one of us is at least age 60 – You may be eligible for Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Income limit can be increased by adding out-of-pocket medical costs. Provides about $400 in help on energy bills each year.
♦Our monthly income is less than $1,430 and one of us is at least age 60. We have less than $3,000 in cash assets – You may be eligible for Food Stamps
♦Our monthly income is less than $2,211 and we receive Social Security. You may be eligible for Qualified Individual-1 (QI-1) or, if less than $2,040 for Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary (SLMB). Pays your Medicare Part B monthly premium adding an extra $93.50 each month, each person to your Social Security checks.
♦Our monthly income is less than $1,812 and we receive Social Security. You may be eligible for Qualified Medicare Beneficiary (QMB) Pays your Medicare Part B monthly premium adding an extra $93.50 each month each person to your Social Security checks. Pays Medicare deductibles and co-payments saving you from buying Medicare supplements.
♦Our monthly income is less than $1,241 and we are at least age 65 or are disabled. We have less than $15,000 in cash and interest bearing bank accounts – You may be eligible for Maine Care. Pays your Medicare Part B monthly premium adding an extra $93.50 each month to your Social Security check. Pays Medicare deductibles and co-payments saving you from buying Medicare supplements, pays prescription drug costs, provides some dental care, pays for medical transportation.
♦Our monthly income is less than $934 and we are at least age 65 or are disabled and we have less than $3,000 in cash and interest bearing accounts – You may be eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). Provides an extra check, qualifies automatically for Maine Care (see above).
